John came to the USA on July 17, 1902 on board the S.S. Switzerland at the port of Philadelphia, PA. The S.S. Switzerland sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on July 2, 1902. The ship's manifest states that her destination was Washington, DC and that he came to stay with his brother, Fabian

John George Augustine played violin in symphony orchestra. He had a barber shop in the Hotel Annapolis in Washington DC as well as one in Seat Pleasant.

On Sunday, December 11, 1966, JOHN G. AUGUSTINE of Seat Pleasant, Md., beloved husband of Julia Augustine, father of Gerard John Augustine, Teresa Elizabeth Lloyd and Edna Gertrude Wren, brother of George and Michael. Also survived by fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends received at Robert E. Wilhelm Funeral Home, 4308 Suitland Rd. SE, where prayers will be said on Tuesday, December 13, at 9:30 a.m. Requiem Mass will be offered at St. Margaret’s Church, Seat Pleasant, Md, at 10 a.m. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary Monday at 8 p.m.
