Rosa B. Barkanda (1898 - 1991)

Autobiographical Sketch
Rosa was a member of the Decater Heights Community Club. She served as president in 1933-34 and 1939-40. In September 1954 she hosted the monthly
meeting and acted as chairman of the Program Committee for 1954-55. It is unclear to this writer exactly what the club did but they had committees
for everything from Flowers and Fine Arts to American Citizenship and International Relations. The constitution and by-laws state that the club was
organized in 1930 in Bladensburg, MD and that the object of the club was “Civic Improvement”.
